Abridged Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, written by Divinely inspired men
and is complete and inerrant in the original writings and is the supreme and
final authority in faith and life.
(II Tim.3:16,17)
God
We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three
persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Mat: 28:19).
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ, begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of the
virgin Mary, is God the Son, manifest in the flesh, yet sinless; He bodily
arose from the dead, ascended to Heaven, and is present there; in His second
coming, Jesus Christ will come personally, bodily and visibly to set up His
kingdom on earth and to judge the world in righteousness.
(Matt. 1:19-25; Luke 24:2-6; I Thess. 4:3-18)
Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells all Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ,
baptizing them into the body of Christ (I Cor. 6:19), and sovereignly
bestows His gifts for ministry.
Sin
We believe man was created in the image of God, sinned and incurred not only
physical death but also spiritual death. We believe all mankind is born
with a sinful nature and in need of a Saviour. (Gen. 1:26-27)
Salvation
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died a substitutionary death upon the
cross. His sacrifice made atonement for the sin of the world. All those
who believe in Him and by faith receive Him as Lord and Saviour have eternal
life. (I Cor. 15:3,4; I John 5:11-13)
Satan
We believe that Satan is a real, personal being; he is the enemy of God, the
instigator of all false systems of religion; able to exert great power but
only so far as God allows; he and his followers shall ultimately be cast
into the lake of fire forever. (Eph. 6:11; Rev. 20:14,15).
Final State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; for
the saved, everlasting blessedness in the presence of God and for the lost,
everlasting punishment and separation from God. (John 3:16-18)
Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, composed of all born-again
Believers; the primary mission of the church is to honor God by preaching
His Word, loving one another, and teaching people to love and follow Christ.
Doctrinal Issues
The statements listed above define the very basic Christian beliefs
necessary for true fellowship in any Christian church. And although they do
not encompass all scriptural thoughts and beliefs, they do define a common
ground for study and pursuit of greater understanding of the Word of God.
There are, however, other issues and beliefs that have been deliberated and
debated for centuries, and that have led to strife and division in the
Church, rather than to love and unity. We support and encourage each to be
fully convinced in their own conscience about such issues, but ask that they
not be held dogmatically to the point of division and separation.
(Ephesians 4:1-13)
